Artist's Statement: My name is Nurit and I live in a small village in the Galilee, Israel. Since my childhood, I enjoy creating and crafting, I love to paint on silk, photograph, knit, crochet, mosaic and explore new materials and techniques. I spend almost all of my free time creating or thinking about creating. On my journey looking for new and interesting materials, I have been exposed to the work of the known Israeli sculptor Sholamit Hartal. It was 4 years ago when I first joined a class of Sholamit in Tel-Aviv where she teaches the special technique of sculpting with metal wire mesh. The style and technique of sculpting use the metal-wire mesh as raw material. It serves as both its own external structure and surface. The wire mesh is flexible but stable enough to be hand crafted using no internal mold or construction.
